2024 Pennsylvania At Risk

Preservation Pennsylvania has announced the 2024 Pennsylvania At Risk in an effort to bring statewide attention to threatened historic properties, serve as a tool for local action toward a positive outcome, and encourage funding and legislation in support of preservation activities.

New Board Members Join Preservation Pennsylvania

Preservation Pennsylvania welcomes three new members to its Board of Directors. Their collective expertise will help shape the future of the organization and guide our efforts in planning a sustainable future for the organization, providing meaningful preservation services, building membership, and securing the organization’s financial foundation.

Announcing Grant Recipients for the PA African American Cemetery Stewardship Program

Pennsylvania Hallowed Grounds and Preservation Pennsylvania are pleased to announce grant awards to thirteen African American cemeteries to assist in their ongoing preservation efforts as part of an African American Cemetery Stewardship Program funded by the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund (AACHAF) through the National Trust for Historic Preservation (NTHP) with support from The 1772 Foundation.

Announcing 11 Most Endangered Places from the National Trust

On May 9, as part of Preservation Month, the National Trust for Historic Preservation announced the 2023 list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places. Two of the eleven are located in the city of Philadelphia. It’s time to rally round and support these preservation efforts!

Grants will fund Pennsylvania African American Cemetery Stewards Network

Preservation Pennsylvania, in collaboration with PA Hallowed Grounds, is pleased to announce their pilot project, the Pennsylvania African American Cemetery Stewards Network, has been selected to receive grant funding from the African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund, a program of the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

The Reveal: Mifflin House Saved!

The Mifflin House (York County) will be purchased by the environmental nonprofit The Conservation Fund, in collaboration with Preservation Pennsylvania and the Susquehanna National Heritage Area (SNHA). Preservation Pennsylvania added the property to the 2017 Pennsylvania At Risk.

Mindy Crawford named Preservation Hero of the Quarter

Preservation Action has named Preservation Pennsylvania’s Executive Director Mindy Crawford as the Preservation Hero of the Quarter.

2021 Pennsylvania At Risk

The 2021 Pennsylvania At Risk are Fort Halifax Park (Dauphin County), Satterthwaite House and the Patterson Farm (Bucks County), and the former St. Agnes Church in the Oakland Neighborhood of Pittsburgh (Allegheny County).

York County’s Hanover Theater, once “At Risk,” now slated for redevelopment

The Hanover Theater (originally State Theater) at 37-41 Frederick Street in downtown Hanover will be sold to a redevelopment group. The historic theater was named to Preservation Pennsylvania’s list of threatened and endangered historic properties in 2011.
