March is Membership Month

March is Membership Month! Why do people reach out to us for help?

They need our help because there's a threat. Or they want to plan ahead to prevent a threat. There's a special building or neighborhood in their community that they love. It's an important part of their identity. It's part of the landscape that defines home. It's the place that makes them feel like they belong.
Membership is about belonging – and supporting our mission helping people protect and preserve the historic places that matter to them.

We invite you to show your support for preservation throughout Pennsylvania by becoming a member during our special "March is Membership Month" celebration!
New members: Join at $50+ and get a free t-shirt bonus! Visit our March is for Membership page to get more information.

Thank you for making a community connection

Mindy Crawford leads discussionMany thanks to everyone who made the time to come out to the Community Connections Open House sessions across the state. Your insights and opinions will help shape the next Statewide Historic Preservation Plan that will create a vision for historic preservation in Pennsylvania for the next five years and guide decision-making, policy, and planning at the local, state, and regional level. The PA State Historic Preservation Office (PA SHPO) will release the plan in 2018.

guide to historic windowsWhat About the Windows? Help Save Them!

Preservation Pennsylvania is pleased to announce publication of "Considering the Repair, Retrofit, and Replacement of Historic Windows." Useful for HARBS and CLGs, the guide also provides useful information for individual preservationists to advocate for saving historic windows rather than replacing them.
Help spread the word and be an advocate for original windows!
This project is supported by a grant from the Pennsylvania State Historic Preservation Office via the Certified Local Government program, and is made possible by cooperation of the Boroughs and HARBs of Gettysburg, Bellefonte and Mercersburg.
(Know of a great window restoration/refit expert? Send us the info at -- thanks!)
